CONTRIBUTIONS AND CHARGES

CONTRIBUTIONS AND CHARGES

The Piara Waters Senior High School Board have approved the request of voluntary contributions, fees and charges for 2024 as detailed in the schedule for all students commencing in 2024. Voluntary contributions have been set at $235 per student, per year.
The schedule of contributions and charges is available here.

Each year, the Piara Waters Senior High School Board takes careful consideration in approving the rates of voluntary contributions, charges, and other optional costs. This decision-making process is crucial to ensure the effective operation and provision of high-quality education and support services to our students. Whilst the Department of Education affords the school a nominal level of ‘Student Centred Funding’ each year, the majority of funding is expended on staff salaries, payment of utilities and the ongoing maintenance of school facilities. As such, funds that the school raises directly from the local community make a considerable impact the enrichment of student learning experiences.

Voluntary Contributions

Voluntary contributions play a significant role in enhancing the overall educational experience for our students. These contributions enable us to go above and beyond the standard curriculum, offering additional resources, programs, and opportunities that enrich their learning journey. They help us provide access to state-of-the-art technology, organise extracurricular activities and enhance teaching/learning programs.

While these contributions are not compulsory, we deeply appreciate the support and partnership of our families in contributing to the growth and development of our school. These voluntary contributions reflect a shared commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our students, fostering a collaborative relationship between the school and families.

Charges

In addition to voluntary contributions, some subjects attract a compulsory charge. These charges are carefully considered to ensure they align with the cost of providing the service or organising the activity and we strive to make them reasonable and equitable for all.

Financial Hardship

It is important to note that we understand the financial circumstances of families may vary, and we are committed to maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment. If any family is experiencing financial hardship, we encourage open communication with the Manager Corporate Services. Payments plans are available. We also have processes in place to ensure that no student is disadvantaged due to financial constraints, and we are committed to working collaboratively to explore available support options.
