School psychology services focus on student engagement and wellbeing for learning. The School Psychologist at Piara Waters Senior High School is Sarah-Ann Lee. The School Psychologist works collaboratively within the Student Wellbeing team to support the needs of young people.
Embedding evidence-based approaches to whole-school wellbeing promotion, with a focus on establishing a positive, inclusive and responsive learning community.
Providing brief psychological support for students experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges. Please note: School psychologists are not primary providers of clinical mental health services for young people.
Identifying barriers to learning and appropriate interventions to address students’ needs.
Providing consultation to staff and families regarding resources and strategies to enhance student wellbeing and engagement.
Coordinating with external practitioners and agencies to provide effective support for young people and their families.
Referrals to the School Psychologist are made through the Student Wellbeing Team and require informed consent from a parent or legal guardian prior to involvement. Parents and carers with concerns regarding their child’s mental health, learning, or behaviour are encouraged to discuss these matters with their child’s home group teacher or a member of the Student Wellbeing Team.
