School Psychologist

The School Psychologist is an important member of our Student Wellbeing team. As a member of the School Psychology Service (SPS), the School Psychologist at Piara Waters Senior High School has centralised support in assisting student’s mental health, learning, and behaviour.

The School Psychologist works to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviourally, and emotionally. The School Psychologist at Piara Waters Senior High School is Sarah-Ann Lee. Key responsibilities of the School Psychologist include:

1. Mental Health

  • • Providing direct support for students experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties.

  • • Consulting with staff and parents to maximise student wellbeing.

  • • Providing information for external agency referrals for support.

  • • Assisting the school and children to maximise development of positive mental health and wellbeing.

2. Learning

  • • Providing consultation to staff and parents regarding evidence-based learning interventions to support students experiencing learning difficulties.

  • • Conducts assessments of students experiencing learning difficulties to determine the most appropriate interventions for individual needs.

3. Behaviour

  • • Works alongside staff and parents to identify and change target behaviours at an individual, group and systematic level.

Referrals to the School Psychologist are made through the Student Wellbeing team. They require formal parent consent prior to involvement occurring. If you have concerns regarding your child’s mental health, learning or behaviour, please consult with your child’s homeroom teacher or the Associate Principal.
