The Academic Excellence Program (AEP) at Piara Waters Senior High School supports academically able and high-potential students to achieve at the highest level. The program provides a challenging and supportive learning environment that nurtures academic excellence, personal growth, and wellbeing.
Students in the AEP engage in enriched, extended and accelerated learning across Mathematics, English, Science, and Humanities and Social Sciences. With expert teachers, high-quality instruction, and personalised pathways, students are encouraged to think critically, learn deeply, and develop strong 21st-century skills including collaboration, creativity, leadership, and resilience.
Entry into the AEP occurs through a selective process in Year 7, using the Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST). Student placement is reviewed regularly to ensure the program continues to meet individual learning needs. Ongoing monitoring and support help students set goals, manage workload, and maintain wellbeing.
The AEP also builds strong partnerships with universities, industry and community organisations, offering students authentic learning experiences through competitions, incursions and excursions.
For students who demonstrate strong academic ability and potential, the AEP provides a pathway to excel, be challenged, and prepare for future success.
Discover a world of limitless possibilities in the Piara Waters Senior High School’s Academic Excellence Program.
